Perfect Popcorn Recipes for your Holiday Party from a Bullseye View

Fabulous festive food ideas are popping up in the heads of  Target’s food scientists and food trend designers this season.  Below we share three of their very merry recipes for party popcorn.  These are perfect for your holiday celebrations, make great munchies while watching Christmas specials on the tube, and can serve as a great gift or favor idea.

Red Hots Popcorn

what you need

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 (6 ounce) package Brach’s Red Hots Candy Canes, unwrapped
  • Few drops red food coloring, if desired

here’s how

  1. Place popcorn in large bowl.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in large saucepan. Cook and stir on low until candy canes are completely melted, about 10 minutes. Pour over popcorn; toss to coat.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oven to 300°F. Spray a large baking pan. Spread popcorn mixture on pan. Bake 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Bananas Foster Popcorn Ball Minis

what you need

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped banana chips
  • 1 (10 ounce) package marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dark rum or 1 teaspoon rum extract

here’s how

  1. Combine popcorn, pecans and banana chips in large bowl.
  2. Melt marshmallows, butter and brown sugar in large saucepan on low, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in rum.
  3. Pour over popcorn mixture; mix until well coated. Allow to cool a few minutes.
  4. With sprayed ice cream scoop or buttered hands, shape mixture into 12 balls. Insert lollipop stick into each if desired. Arrange on wax or parchment paper. Continue to press balls into shape as they cool. Cool completely.
  5. Wrap each with plastic or cello wrap and a ribbon, if desired. Store in airtight container.

Peppermint Tracks

what you need

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 8 Peppermint White Chocolate Covered Sandwich Cookies, coarsely chopped
  • 1 (12 ounce) package white baking morsels

here’s how

  1. Combine popcorn and cookies in large bowl.
  2. Place white morsels in medium microwaveable bowl.
  3. Microwave 1 minute on high heat. Stir until smooth. If necessary, microwave in additional 10-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
  4. Pour over popcorn mixture and toss to coat.
  5. Spread on cookie sheet. Mixture will set up as it cools.
