Kids in the Kitchen – Elizabeth
My son is a lemonade lover and has been perfecting his recipe for the best lemonade ever over the past few summers. While in Florida visiting his grandparents, he hand picked the lemons from their trees, squeezed them for their fresh juice and mixed it up with a little simple syrup, water and ice. Perfection!
Best Homemade Lemonade Recipe
(makes one large glass)
- 6 oz. fresh lemon juice (3-4 lemons), strain out any seeds
- 2 oz. simple syrup*
- 1 oz. water
Fill a cocktail shaker ¾ of the way full with ice. Pour in lemon juice, simple syrup and water and shake vigorously for 30 seconds (make sure to do a professional job and shake over both shoulders!) Pour into tall glass and serve.
*You can substitute 1 tsp. agave syrup + 1 tsp. water for the 2 oz. of simple syrup – your lemonade will look more fluorescent yellow in color.
