Homemade gifts make Valentine’s Day special. So, here’s an idea for a deliciously sweet treat that you can make at home.
Peanut Brittle is a classic candy, that doesn’t cost a lot to make – plus with the recipe below, you can mix it up in just a few minutes in the microwave. Once your done, and your brittle is cool, break it up and wrap it in pretty Valentine’s Day paper. You can roll the paper into a cone if you like (pictured above) and include a message of love! For our loved-ones with nut allergies, try replacing the peanuts with sunflower and pumpkin seeds (here’s a recipe I found at Nom Yum & Free> )
Homemade Peanut Brittle
Makes 8 servings
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Combine sugar and honey in 2-quart microwave-safe container. Microwave on HIGH (100%) 3 minutes; stir and microwave on HIGH 3 minutes longer. Stir in peanuts. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute; stir in butter and vanilla. Stir in soda until light and foamy. Spread lightly onto cookie sheet; cool. Break into pieces. Recipe developed for 600 to 700 watt microwave ovens.
