We hope you take inspiration from our Fourth of July outdoor tablescape. This table took a trip to Pier One Imports and our local discount/dollar store - The Christmas Tree Store where we found the things we needed to create a fun and festive look. We had a small budget and were short on time, yet we were able to create a fabulous table. Our star purchase were the placemats and napkins from Pier One Imports – they’ll go a long way this summer when we entertain. The placemats are reversible and coordinate with the napkins, so we will use them in 2 party themes: 1.) Patriotic Table: Fourth of July BBQ pictured here, and 2.) Nautical Table: Summer Seafood Dinner Party ( view it here>).
Look for items like fun party straws and flags – they are a big bang for the buck on your table.
You may want to put the bulk of your budget towards the table linens and shop the dollar or party stores for the rest – you don’t need to spend a lot. Set your patriotic tablescape and then let Mother Nature be your backdrop. Simple and special is the way to party this summer! I purchased the striped and reversible placemats, striped napkins, Uncle Sam hat and stars from Pier 1 Imports, dishes from Villeroy and Boch – other decorations from The Christmas Tree Store.
When hungry guests arrive, serve them fruit and cheese on a 4th of July party skewer with nuts. It’s healthy and lighter than chips and heavy dips.
Go red, white and blue with dessert. Vanilla ice cream or pudding with berries is delicious and patriotic or try the Firecracker Cupcakes below (recipe here>)
