Red Carpet Viewing Party Cocktail and Concession Stand!

red carpet viewing party

On Sunday, February 28, 2016, Hollywood rolls out the red carpet for a night of stars (and the best fashion show of the year!) As viewing the red carpet coverage is an event in and of itself, it deserves its own viewing party. – (Red Carpet Reposted from 2015)

We wanted to extend the energy and excitement from the red carpet to the home so we created a Mod Cocktail and Concession Stand for you to enjoy with your friends. Not only does this set the mood, but it allows for easy hosting, as all the drinks are pre-made. Plus this party can be hosted during traditional cocktail hours, the red carpet coverage runs from 5:00 pm -7:30 pm EST.  Since it’s Sunday night, the big bonus is that you and your guests can be watching the show from bed by the time best actress is announced!  Read on and we’ll show you how to easily and inexpensively re-create this in your home!

Audrey Hepburn is the star of our bar!  Did you know…

  • Although, Audrey Hepburn won an Academy Award in 1954 for Roman Holiday, her most iconic role was Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961 (she was nominated as Best Actress for this role, but lost to Sophia Loren.)
  • The famous dress she wears in the opening scene (the original Little Black Dress) was designed by Givenchy. FYI: Audrey Hepburn disliked pastries, which she is eating in the opening scene outside Tiffany’s.
  • The “Manhattan” sunglasses designed by Oliver Goldsmith (FYI: in 2011 this model was rereleased in honor of the 50th anniversary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.) Today, the “Manhattan” style is available only in Smokey Green.

Why should the celebrities have all the fun? Invite your gal pals to glam it up for the night and make sure to snap some photos for sharing after the party!

‘Transform your bar cart into a Mod Concession Stand in a few easy steps:

1. Build a foundation by creating a backdrop – Position a framed poster of an iconic Hollywood star just off center. We chose this shot of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, framed it in a white frame we had on hand and used black & white chevron patterned wrapping paper as a mat for added contrast.

2.  Accessorize and anchor the ends of the bar car with a film-inspired floral arrangement {use real film to decorate the outside of a glass cylinder vase for a Hollywood-themed arrangement.}

3. Create your own DIY Party Voting Paddles – how to instructions here>.

4. Add Refreshments – offer both Mod Mocktails and Cocktails. We’re featuring Shirley Temple Mocktails {recipe here>}, in honor of the late Shirley Temple who danced and sang her way into our hearts.  Did you know she was the first recipient of the Juvenile Academy Award in 1935?

5. Serve French 75 Cocktails {recipe here>}  alongside the Shirley Temple.

6. Concessions – dressed up penny candy in glass footed bowls command the 2nd tier of the concession stand. Red licorice bites, dark chocolate nonpareils, and mini fruit slices are the stars here.

7. Popcorn Posies – popcorn is a must at every movie and viewing party, so we dressed it up by creating a glam container for it. Champagne and gold striped paper cones line these metal French fry stands making them the perfect presentation for our party.

Cheers to a great night!
