Summer BBQ: Guinness Blonde + Good Friends

Summer BBQ: Guinness Blonde + Good Friends

Disclosure:  Party Bluprints has partnered with Guinness to bring you these original party tips and ideas.

I know the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” is true, because summer is always over in the blink of an eye. I can’t believe it’s already August! I always think that summer is going to be relaxing and rejuvenating, but it’s often super busy and active. It’s not a bad thing, but I sometimes forget to stop and take a breath of fresh air or enjoy the things that make summer my favorite season of the year.

This past weekend, I decided I wanted to sit back, relax and enjoy my friends company. I hosted a “BeerBQ,” which is essentially a BBQ with the addition of delicious, ice cold beer. I went back to the basics and grilled up hot dogs, ribs, hamburgers, corn, and clams. I always forget how simple and easy it is to host a BBQ – there’s barely any prep required and the aftermath is not nearly as messy as most dinners. I got paper plates and plastic utensils, but didn’t skimp on the beer quality.

We decided to go with Guinness Blonde, one of our new summer favorites. The taste of the crisp, light beer goes well with all of the above and more. It’s light, balanced, and refreshing. It has subtle hints of fruit and honey that aren’t overpowering but make for a super tasty beer. It’s safe to say we all enjoyed a few and were left wanting more. We’ll go ahead and give Guinness Blonde a “highly recommend” rating.

Of all of the things we made, the clams were a huge hit. The buttery flavor makes them sinfully delicious, especially paired with a blonde lager. Here’s how to make them:

  1. Scrub 1-1 1/2 pounds of fresh clams
  2. Cook them on the grill, without turning them
  3. When they pop open (about 8-10 mins), take them off grill
  4. Let cool and then drizzle garlic butter on them to taste

Garlic butter drizzle:

  1. Mince 3 cloves of garlic
  2. Mince 2 tablespoons of chives
  3. Melt a stick of butter
  4. Combine garlic, chives, and butter

Afterwards, we layed in the pool to soak up the last bits of sun. When the sun went down, we played Cards Against Humanity and laughed into the late hours of the night. I loved being able to sit back and relax and not feel like I needed to go out or be anywhere else. All I needed was a cheeseburger, my Guinness Blonde, my friends, and the summer sunset to make me happy.
