We had a blast! Lenox really knows how to throw a party and it was a highlight to meet and chat with Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig – Marchesa co-designers. This dynamic duo can do it all, dressing fashion plates like Sandra Bullock for the Oscars to designing salad plates for Lenox!
From the day Lenox opened its doors over 121 years ago, as Ceramic Art Studio, art and creativity have been a driving force. While the other pottery shops were organizing their workspace as a factory, Lenox, always forward thinking, set theirs up as an art studio. Their initial offerings, one-of-a-kind art wares in ivory china, were met with such enthusiastic acclaim that pieces were displayed in the Smithsonian. When formal home entertaining became the rage in the early 1900’s, Lenox turned its’ attention to custom designed plates, and, soon thereafter, began producing complete dinner sets with standardized patterns in addition to its’ custom designed pieces. Lenox’s founder, Walter Scott Lenox, was an artisan, passionate about his craft and life. Lenox has stayed true to its founder’s vision earning the title, “Gifts that Celebrate Life”.
Lenox is certainly celebrating life in style as they unveil a new couture tabletop collection by Marchesa. Marchesa, known for its high fashion red carpet evening and bridal gowns, custom designed a line of dinnerware, stemware, and giftware for Lenox. The collection features the exquisite detailing from the Marchesa Collection. Lenox launched on April 14, 2010 the Marchesa Collection with 8 dinnerware patterns inspired by Marchesa’s one-of-a-kind dress designs.
Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, partnered in 2004 and co-founded Marchesa. The Marchesa Collection based in New York, features exquisite Asian and vintage influenced high fashion gowns. Marchesa’s namesake and muse, Marchesa Luisa Casati, European style icon, viewed life in a grandiose manner, as a work of art.
The marriage of Lenox’s and Marchesa’s visions, both inspired by a passion for life, is exciting and close to our hearts – Party Bluprints inspires Celebrating Life in Style and this new collection certainly fits the bill. We love Lenox’s fashion forward thinking bringing high fashion to the tabletop. Cheers to Lenox!
