Friday’s Featured Cocktail – Classic RIPE Agave Margarita!

Cinco de Mayo is around the corner and I can’t think of a better cocktail to celebrate it with than a Margarita. Margaritas are one of the most served and sipped cocktails in America, so you definitely need to pick the RIPE one!  All kidding aside, RIPE fresh, pure squeezed cocktail mixes are out of this world.

I taste tested the Sour Mix, Bloody Mary and Margarita Mixes.  The Margarita mix is really amazing.  The first thing you notice when you open the container is the smell of fresh lime (YES! can you hear me clapping?).  This is critical for the creation of a great cocktail.  The mix contains only 4 ingredients: pure squeezed lime and orange juice, 100% Agave Nectar (love the natural sweetener!) and water, that is reverse osmosis filtered (don’t ask me).  I recommend you try RIPE if you’re not squeezing your own fresh mix, I can’t imagine anything closer.  Cheers!

Note: I’m a freak about Bloody Marys and this mix was the best I have every tasted.  It poured thick and the fresh squeezed San Marzano Tomato juice and balsamic give this a very special taste, plus it had just the right kick from fresh horseradish ( it deserves its’ own post stay tuned…)

THE CLASSIC RIPE AGAVE MARGARITA - Recipe From RIPE

  1. Glass Suggestion = Rocks Glass
  2. Equipment = Shaker.
  3. Ingredients: ICE, RIPE Margarita MIx, Silver Tequila, fresh lime slice and seasalt (optional)

Directions:

  • Fill the glass you choose with enough ice to fill all the way, do not chimp on ice! This is to check how much ice you will need for the drink.
  • In the glass with the ice, Mix 1:1, this means 1 part RIPE Margarita mix to 1 part your favorite tequila. (We like to use a premium silver but any will do if you are that ready to go, experiment!)
  • Please note you can alter the ratio, if you prefer a more prevalent SOUR JUICE profile RIPE will hold up nice to 2:1 (2 partS RIPE mix to 1 part Tequila).  For a slightly sweeter Margarita add 1/2 part Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triplesec. This means half the amount of the Tequila you add. (Example: 2oz of RIPE, 1oz of Tequila, 1/2oz of Cointreau)
  • Pour into shaker of some sort and shake the cocktail in a hardcore manner for 5 seconds or so. Pour into the glass. It should be slightly hazy and frothy.
