Weekends are the perfect time to enjoy Bloody Marys and we have the classic Bloody Mary recipe for our readers. Bloody Marys are best for brunch, and tastes great with or without vodka. Below we share a classic Bloody Mary cocktail recipe for you to enjoy. The classic Bloody Mary is a common “Hair of the dog” drink, thought by some to cure hangovers due to its combination of a heavy vegetable base (to settle the stomach), salt (to replenish lost electrolytes) and alcohol (to relieve head and body aches).  We’re not sure about any of that, but we are sure this recipe tastes great.

Blood Mary Recipe

Mix a Pitcher = 4 cocktails


  • 6 ounces vodka
  • 12 ounces tomato juice
  • Juice of 4 Lemons
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 drops Tabasco sauce
  • Pepper taste pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish (optional)
  • 4 lime wedges (garnish)
  • 4 trimmed celery stalks to garnish (garnish)


  1. Rub lime around the rim of 4 glasses and then dip the rim into a mixture of spice mix*
  2. Add ice to each glass.
  3. In a pitcher, mix vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, pepper, celery salt and horseradish (optional) and pour into glass.
  4. Pour over ice into each glass and garnish with lime wedge, and celery stalk and rim with cayenne pepper


Spice mix for glass rim:

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
