“The Story behind the Labels – Wine Sisterhood Gathering 2013”.
We will always remember and cherish the time we spent at Wine Sisterhood Gathering in Napa. There are too many people and places to detail in one post, so we are excited to announce a six-week series – “The Story behind the Labels – Wine Sisterhood Gathering 2013”. Picking up where we left off in our book, Plan To Party, in our Wine Country Crush Party Plan, in which we shared the stories behind the wines we featured.
Please enjoy Part 1 of our Wine Sister Gathering Series, featuring Chappellet Vineyard & Winery.
A Little About Our Hosts:
Chappellet was founded in 1967 by Molly and Donn Chappellet, a young married couple who wanted to raise their family outside the city in a “simpler way”. Although Molly and Donn had no prior experience, they had a dream to build something special. They began growing their vineyard and family over 40 years ago on Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey. They raised 6 children and throughout the years their family grew with the addition of 9 grandchildren and the members of their Chappellet team who they welcomed into their family. All the while producing award winning wine and throwing some incredible parties (Molly has hosted guests such Julia Child, Danny Kaye, Dinah Shore, Clint Eastwood, Martha Stewart, and Craig Claiborne and threw a birthday party for James Beard.)
Wine Tasting/Tour aka “Party on the Move”
Often times when I entertain, I like to move from room to room for each course to share different experiences with my guests. Chappellet took this approach to entertaining to an entirely different level with their “party on the move”. With a glass of Sauvignon Blanc in hand, we headed off to tour the grounds. Two things we didn’t know: (1) how extensive and breath taking the property is; and (2) our guides had packed four other wines for our party on the move – every time we stopped at a scenic vista, we tried a new wine. Now this is the way to tour by foot!
Our gracious guides, Candace and Don, warmly talked about working at Chappellet and described it as the best place to work, you could feel their personal investment and passion in the vineyard/winery. It quickly became evident that Chappellet is built on family, loyalty, quality, appreciation and dedication to nature and farming and a desire to share it with others. On the last stop of our tour, we had the pleasure of meeting Molly Chappellet. Molly, Chappellet co-founder, author, designer, landscape gardener, photographer, chef and entertainer, hiked up the mountain camera in hand to warmly greet us. After listening to her speak for about 10 minutes, we all welcomed her into our hearts taking a little piece of Chappellet and its essence home with us.

I loved how they treated us as their personal guests – per the Party Bluprints Inc. belief that you can create a meaningful experience for your guests…
They created an experience and shared it with us. They touched our senses from our taste buds to our hearts.
Thank you to everyone at Chappellet who made our visit so special and memorable!
Chappellet Vineyard & Winery – Since 1967, the Chappellet family has been hand-crafting critically acclaimed wines on the rocky slopes of Pritchard Hill. Chappellet was one of the first Napa Valley wineries to plant cover crops and adopt no-till farming practices, and today the entire vineyard is farmed organically. In an ongoing commitment to sustainable and organic practices, the property is also 100% solar powered and awaiting CCOF organic certification this year.
