2 Quick and Simple Valentine’s Day Treats They’ll LOVE!

Shop your pantry to make Valentine’s Day party treats they’ll LOVE!

I was stuck at home today, but really wanted to get started on some Valentine’s Day treats, so I shopped my pantry.  I pretended I was on an episode of “Chopped” – you know the show where chefs get a basket of ingredients and they need to make a great meal with them.   Well, this, of course, was a lot easier, because the items I had were all things my kids and hubby love.  Seriously straight from the heart, no pun intended this is what I did this morning! Here’s what I found…

  • Twizzlers
  • Rold Gold Tiny Twists Pretzels
  • Mallomars
  • White icing
  • Nestle’s semi sweet morsels
  • Ciao Bella Raspberry Sorbet
  • Red Sugar Sprinkles

( I know, I do have a healthy side of the pantry too!)

With these items, I created 2 Valentine’s Day desserts, one for the boys and one for my husband and me.  For the boys, I made an easy and mostly edible Valentine’s Day inspired Tic Tac Toe board.   This is great fun because, they can play with their food and they won’t get in trouble!

To create the pieces for the game, I used white icing and Mallomars.  I put white icing into a sandwich size Ziploc bag and warmed it up a bit by squishing it around in the bag with my hands.  Then I snipped off a tiny bit of the corner of the bag and piped out the icing in X‘s and O‘s on top of the cookies.  To create the Tic Tac Toe board, I simply cut pieces of Twizzlers and laid them out on a white plate, note in picture that I cut some pieces shorter for the horizontal lines.

For my husband and me, I wanted to make a more sophisticated treat.  It just so happened that I was able to create a dessert for him with all of his favorite flavors.  I melted chocolate chips and dipped the pretzels in it to make his favorite candy:  Chocolate Covered Pretzels.   I coated some with red sugar sprinkles and with others, I made little pretzel peanut butter sandwiches (pictured in the middle of the tic tac toe board) and then dipped them in chocolate.  While the pretzels hardened on wax paper in the refrigerator, I scooped out some Raspberry Sorbet (or use your favorite ice cream) into pretty glass mugs and topped it with the chocolate covered pretzels when they were done.

Everyone will be happy and I didn’t need to make a trip to the store!

Disclosure:   I was not paid for this post and did not receive any free product – I  actually love the products included and enjoyed making these treats!

I am sorry – we just do tips and ideas here. Sounds exciting, good luck to you!

  2. I come from the province of Samar. I want to learn how to arrange flowers for a small business I’m planning to put up in the province. I need a short course on this specially this summer because I have a chance to stay longer in Manila since the kids don’t have classes yet. Do you have a workshop that I can attend this summer?

  3. The tic-tac-toe with twizzlers and snacks is SUCH a great idea! I can’t wait to do this with my kids. Does the winner get first pick?! ;)
