On Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Robert Verdi’s Luxe Laboratory in New York City, Hershey’s hosted a Holiday Cookie Baking Party. Hershey’s Kitchens Baking Expert, Linda Stahl and Nick Hosea of Bite Foods, one of New York’s favorite pastry chefs, shared their secrets for making delicious holiday cookies. One of the highlights of the party was an exclusive cookie recipe that Nick Hosea shared with the attendees, and I am sharing it with you
It is called Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate and Peppermint Candy Cookies and it’s perfect for this holiday season! HERSHEY’S KISSES SPECIAL DARK MILDLY SWEET CHOCOLATE AND PEPPERMINT CANDY COOKIES
From the kitchen of New York pastry chef Nick Hosea from Bite Foods and BAKE SALE.
Recipe: Makes 40 cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoons peppermint extract (or less, for a less intense peppermint flavor)
- 2 ½ cups all?purpose flour
- ¾ cup + 1 tablespoons Hershey®’s Cocoa
- 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
- 1tablespoons baking powder
- 1 bag Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark® Mildly Sweet Chocolates
- 1 cup chopped peppermint candies or candy canes
Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 350° F and remove wrappers from Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolates.
2. Sift dry ingredients into medium mixing bowl.
3. Mix wet ingredients in separate bowl and slowly combine with dry ingredients until well blended.
4. Fold in peppermint candies.
5. Mold scant tablespoons of dough around one Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate, covering completely.
6. Shape into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
7. Place cookie balls onto buttered or sprayed cookie sheet about 3 inches away from one another.
8. Bake 8 minutes or until cookie is set.
9. Remove cookie sheet from oven to wire rack; cool.
