Shake January Doldrums with Chocolate Fondue!

Chocolate Fondue is a great way to shake the January Doldrums.   Fondue is fun to do and chocolate puts everybody in a good mood.  You can melt your kids’ hearts and surprise them with a really special dessert, or go all out and turn Friday into Fondue Night.  Invite friends over to share some dessert, play cards or board games and kick off the weekend right.  One of the things I love best about fondue is it brings everybody to the table to stimulate conversation and spark fun  – even makes my 13 year old smile and join in !

Chocolate Lover’s Fondue from Hersheysyields about 2 cups fondue.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY’S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup light cream or half & half
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Assorted Fondue Dippers: pound cake pieces, marshmallows, cherries, grapes, mandarin orange segments, pineapple chunks, strawberries, fresh fruit slices

Directions:
1. Combine chocolate chips, light cream and sugar in heavy medium sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is hot.

2. Pour into fondue pot or chafing dish; serve warm with Assorted Fondue Dippers.

Variation: 2 tablespoons kirsch (cherry-flavored liqueur) may be added before serving.
