Score Big with Taco Soup and Sunday Football!

Reposting this recipe from last year, because it’s so good!

Let’s get ready for some Football!  Sundays during Football Season provide the perfect opportunity for some stress free entertaining.  Invite friends and family over to share the day cheering on the home team and enjoy some good food.  Score big by serving up Taco Soup.  It’s a perfect dish for this type of get-together – easy to make, delicious to eat and inexpensive for serving a crowd.  Just turn the game on, make sure you have plenty of seats and put out a big pot of Taco Soup with tortilla chips and toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, olives or whatever you like best. Let everyone help themselves, sit and enjoy the game!

Taco Soup

  • 1 pound ground meat (browned and drained)
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2-2 can water
  • 1 can RO*TEL tomatoes
  • 1 can white corn
  • 1 can hominy
  • 1 can ranch style beans
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 pkg taco seasoning
  • 1 pkg. ranch dressing

  • Mix everything together without draining and cook on medium low for 30 minutes.
  • Serve with tortilla chips. Try anything from blue corn chips to plain taco chips. Add shredded cheese and sour cream.

  1. Great recipe! Our version at Chez Panisse doubles the amount of powdered ranch to make it extra special!

Congrats on the new book! Can’t wait to read it!

  2. I’m just going to call this dish “Lazy Tacos” and it will be on my menu this Sunday – thank you! My husband loves Mexican food but it’s always so preparation intensive – this I can handle!
