Spooktacular Mantels

If you hosting for Halloween this Saturday, a great place to start decorating is the mantel. It’s a great way to show your Halloween spirit and your own personal style!  There are so many different looks to go with, from fun for the kids to seriously spooky.  Above are several marvelous mantels that I wanted to share with you for inspiration. If you have no budget for new items, here is an idea from the amazing writers at Good Housekeeping that takes nothing but a few items you have around your home and a few from the craft store.

Good House Keeping’s Ghostly Gallery
Turn a mantel into a ghostly gallery by photocopying 19th-century portraits (these are from a Civil War history book) and mounting them on somber, coal-colored mats.

Then just add some candles, a candelabra if you have one and turn cheese cloth or cotton balls into spider webs by stretching the material out. Check out: Transforming Mona Lisa Portrait
