Toasting the Season – Can you say Sgropini?

by Dawn on November 2, 2009

The Sgropini is definitely my favorite drink for the season!  Elizabeth gets credit for discovering it and introducing me to it.  We have enjoyed quite a few together!

Sgropino

Mama Mia this Italian cocktail is delizioso! It’s tart, creamy and makes the perfect aperitif or dessert cocktail. Either way you decide to go, it’s simple to make and special to serve during the holidays. Plus Prosecco costs a whole lot less than champagne, making this drink tops on my list for entertaining!

  • One scoop lemon sorbet from Ciao Bella
  • One scoop vanilla gelato from Ciao Bella
  • An ounce of Limoncello
  • 2 ounces Prosecco

Mix ingredients in a blender until creamy. Serve in pretty champagne flute like one of these by Lenox!

That looks and sounds so yummy. One question…What is Prosecco? I’ve never heard if it.

Prosecco is Italian Champagne. It is a dry sparkling wine made from a variety of white grapes of the same name. The grape is grown mainly in the Veneto region of Italy. You may have had Prosecco before as it is used to make Bellinis. I actually like it better than Champagne and it’s a lot less expensive!
